The Harvest
My project began with a pilgrimage to Fatima in Portugal, exploring both local and tourist paths. As the daughter of a local, yet having spent much of my life else where, embracing my multicultural background has been a challenge. This project is my way to harmonise and integrate these aspects. Growing up in England, I realised i unintentionally overlooked my Portuguese heritage , resulting in embarrassment when visiting. The pilgrimage revealed a profound truth - I'm not a tourist in Portugal. In ways Portugal has shaped my personal work ethic and creativity. My on going aspiration is to create art that celebrates my full identity. This begins with cherishing my Portuguese roots.
